Our first day of our 40th year celebrations started off with Buzzy & Sunshine the clowns (alias Reverent Bernadette Hull and her son) along with our friendly Billericay Town Crier Jim Shrub who entertained in the reception area of the hospital, later visiting the patients and staff in the Surgical Referral Unit.
Also joining in our celebration, one of our hospital Chaplains Mike Turnball sitting in with a selection of his chosen tracks with our presenter Tony Stratton.

Friday the 2nd May and our celebration entailed a visit from John Baron MP, June Snowden HBA, Alf Partridge (President BHR1287) Jim Shrubb Billericay Town Crier and a friend of BHR1287 Sylvia Kent which took part in the Elsdon Ward of Basildon University Hospital.
Several of our volunteers received long standing service awards, Jim rang in the celebrations of 40 years with a presentation scroll for each visitor, John cut the cake then dispensing around the ward to the patients, along with the small jars of strawberry jam donated to us by Wilkin & Son Ltd Tiptree Essex.
A very exciting day for us all.

Sunday May 4th and the fourth day of the celebration of 40 years of broadcasting to the patients and staff of Basildon University Hospital. First thing, Alan Newman presented Paul Croome with his 25 year voluntary award certificate for services to BHR1287. Later Stephen Metcalfe MP called into the studio to chat and play a few of his favourite tracks. This was followed later with BHR1287 presenter Alan Newman, along with BBC Essex presenter Stuart Smith presenting a special patients request programme.
Our last day of celebrations at BHR1287 of 40 years broadcasting to the patients and staff of Basildon University Hospital.
Keith Ball and Jon Bennett accompanied by his wife Anne called into the studio to wish us a happy birthday and to be interviewed by Frank Toohey. Keith and Jon also cut up the cake left over from our evening celebration and we enjoyed their company.
Meanwhile Chris Lee our treasurer called into the studio with brother Dave, who had travelled down from Stockton on Tees for the weekend, to take part in our Pop Quiz. Sadly the presenters lost and Chris and Dave went off with the prize. All good fun.
