All that Jazz at BHR1287The legendary Kenny Ball once again visited BHR1287 on the 26th March, bringing along one of his jazzmen, trombonist John Bennett. It was Kenny Ball & John Bennett who originally formed the jazz men back in 1958. The pair were interviewed by our jazz enthusiast Frank Toohey. Also stopped to sign photographs and copies of their book "Musical Skylarks" On the way in Ken & John also stopped to chat to patient David from Upminster who was leaving Basildon Hospital after treatment. It was a very exciting day for the presenters of BHR1287, staff and patients of Basildon University Hospital. |
Kenny Ball who has enjoyed a glittering career that spans sixty years, popped into BHR1287's studio today to share with us the contents of his new book "Musical Skylarks". The book which is out now takes a journey through Kenny's life from a boy, to forming his Jazz Men and much much more. Kenny spoke with Frank Toohey, our jazz enthusiast and presenter. Kenny, was the true gentleman and nothing was too much trouble from signing books, to staying and chatting to the presenters and staff of Basildon Hospital Radio. We were joined by Alan Whittle, Chief Executive of Basildon University Hospital, and Carla Winchester Quality & Performance Manager. |
